Mikko Räty has been appointed CEO of Transfluent Oy, effective on 9 January 2019.
Transfluent, a Finnish company providing comprehensive translation services, is strengthening its ranks with a new CEO. Mikko Räty, who began as the new CEO on 9 January 2019, has previously worked as the Country Manager of Deloitte Digital and Director of Marketing Strategy at Nordic Morning/Seed Digital Media, among other positions.
Founded in 2011, Transfluent produces high-quality translations to B2B customers. The company’s business is based on a sophisticated resource management system, thanks to which high-quality human translations can be delivered at high speed. Transfluent now aims to grow into one of the sector’s biggest players in Finland and the Nordic countries.
Räty’s solid experience in marketing and sales will be a great asset. During his career, he has set up several startups and new business units.
“The sector is changing, and the digital transformation is generating growing demand for texts in the local language. We will change our strategy to meet this demand and aim to join forces with Finland’s biggest companies and actors in the B2B sector,” says Transfluent’s CEO Mikko Räty.
Räty sees huge potential in Transfluent’s unique technology background.
“Transfluent can help Finnish businesses to sell their products and services globally by using the customer’s own language. This opens up new opportunities and improves issues such as customer service quality. I’ve been working as an entrepreneur or partner in small businesses for 13 years, so returning to a dynamic growth company seemed an obvious move,” says Räty.
Co-founder Jani Penttinen continues on the Board
Jani Penttinen, who has led Transfluent since it was founded, has relinquished this position but is still a member of the Board.
“In the early autumn of 2018, Transfluent’s Board decided that the company’s further development called for a professional, entrepreneurial leader based in Finland. Further requirements included the relevant sales skills and understanding of digitalisation. We were delighted to attract plenty of interest, and I think we found a person with just the right qualities,” says Board member Asko Schrey.
“Transfluent has been growing strongly and it’s a minor miracle that we’ve got this far, as I’ve been leading the company from the States,” says Transfluent’s co-founder Jani Penttinen from his home in Las Vegas.
“I’m proud of our team and happy to have Mikko take Transfluent to the next level. “I’ll continue on the Board and be in charge of our North American sales. I’ll also help Finnish startups to obtain funding for their operations from the byFounders venture capital fund,” says Penttinen about his future plans.
